Austrian-Lebanese photographer Tanya Traboulsi is currently exhibiting her work with the Art Factum Gallery at London’s ART14 fair. Her photos have been making the rounds recently, heading from Art Dubai to the Festival De Brest.
Although her subject matter might at first seem very intimate and personal, there is a universal resonance to her images. Traboulsi’s series “Home” sees her trying to visually come face to face with her dual identity. She captures objects and places, shoes on a shelf, herself in the woods, a ticket stub from a defunct theatre. They are scraps of life, scraps of places that, when viewed together, form an idea of what home might mean to the artist: Belonging through aggregation.
